The houseexists of three parts: the first part with the big stones (piedras) is the kitchen. The second part with the bricks are bedrooms and bathroom, and the third part, again with the piedras, is a ruin.
Living was done upstairs, the stables for the animals were downstairs. This picture was taken when we lived in the house for a couple of weeks. The white tubes are waterpipes that lead from the back of the house (waterpump) to the kitchen.
And this is how it is now. The piedras are pointed, and we have a new window and door, more electricity and since 2012 mains water. The stairs are still authentic. We love it....
The kitchen was totally blackened with soot. About 12 square meters in size, with a kitchen table attached to the woodstove (cocina de leña) which was used for cooking and heating the house.
The first months we kept the door between the living room and the kitchen closed. The kitchen was dark and very cold, and we had a few houseguests: owls had been sleeping in our kitchen for a couple of years.
And now it is a beautifull and light kitchen. It is not large, but it has all the comforts that we want and need. We´ve cooked a lot of meals over the years, for ourselves but also for a lot of visitors.
The living roomexisted originally of two bedrooms. After we tore down a wall and made a new doorway, thelarge living room (about 30 square meters) had three windows, and one of them had a beautfull windowsill.
The left hand side of the room still contained bed and cupboard,Look at the window which was on the oposite side of the one on the first pricture. Small and unfortunately rotten. The ceiling of course also had to be renewed.
In the same room another bed, even with a nightstand.... Look at the right hand side the light switch with the electricity cable... We had to take it all out and throw it away, and renew almost the whole room (including the floor and ceiling).
And this is how it is now: again the beautiful windowsill but with central heating and room for a large dining table.
With all the comforts of a "normal house", a little bit of ourselves and a little bit of Ikea...
The windowsills of the two other windows in the living room are covered with piedras.
The bedroomOn the foto I am trying to imagine making this room into a beautiful bedroom…. But that I am having some trouble with it…
A very large room of about 28 square meters, and again with a beautifull windowsill. This room was originally used as a bedroom, we´ve made it ours as well.
And it has turned into a become a very beautifull room , dispite my lack of imagination. The windowsill is covered with marble. The walls were cleaned, revealing the piedras.
The bathroom with a bath and a sink, but without running water or drainage.
This is what it lookes like now, It was the first room in the house that was ready and useable.
The PatioEven though it was not a patio then but a place to stall your tractor
No words needed!We love it!
The TerraceThe first year we planted beans, letice, tomatoes and cabages...
This is what it is now. The little house with the gardenhose is the new waterwell, with on its right hand side the old waterwell.
The BackyardIt was sand, sand, sand, weed, weed, weed...on the left hand side you can see the tubes from our septic tank.
And this is what it is now. Still a lot of sand and weed, but fenced off so that the dogs can stay inside the house or outside in the garden as they please.
